The Hunt for Treasure Off-Broadway Premiere

English Rose Productions
are proud to announce the New York off-Broadway premiere of
The Hunt for Treasure, a comedy that won five stars at the Toronto Fringe Festival. The show
opens on Tuesday June 26th 2007 and runs for 14 performances through July 8th 2007.

This hysterical new comedy is written by Adam Risbridger & Byron Laviolette and directed by
Fritz Brekeller, from ABC’s All My Children.
The Hunt for Treasure stars Avery Pearson &
John Calvin Kelly.

The Hunt for Treasure runs for just two weeks at the Abingdon Theatre in New York. The
Producers are so confident audience members will find it funny, they will refund the ticket
money to anyone who doesn’t laugh.

The story behind this production is highly unusual. The play is set in a bizarre fantasy world,
yet the production came to existence in a very similar fashion. Whilst developing a script with
an optioned author, the producers at English Rose Productions had booked the Abingdon
Theatre to showcase and develop this work from a budding American playwright. Midway
through this process, the author changed all the characters in the play to monkeys and
insisted on the appearance of Antonio Banderas with shaved legs in ACT II. (This was a subtle
message of defiance against some suggested changes). Unfortunately that was the last the
producers heard from the author. However, out of a near disaster,
The Hunt for Treasure
was discovered and the production put together in the remarkable timeframe of less than one
month.

The Hunt for Treasure follows the adolescent odd-couple on a quixotic quest in a world of
conflicted friendships, boredom, ninja-filled alleys and teenage angst. During a game of Bottle-
bee, they discover a mysterious pirate's treasure map and a comedic quest ensues through a
bizarre fantasy world as they search for hidden treasures.

The Hunt for Treasure is produced by English Rose Productions. This is their first off-
Broadway production, having launched the film and theatrical company just last year. Run by
three English Producers who have been in America from between two to six years, their
mission is to breathe a new life into American theatre and productions, from using cutting edge
new technology marketing channels, to their approach to quality and changing the perception
of the whole theatrical experience. The Hunt for Treasure has been marketed using
techniques including You Tube, My Space and other social networking sites where selected
scenes were filmed to help promote the play. Their attention to detail is also unusual – the
accompanying program is better quality than most high budget Broadway shows for example.
From the moment theatre goers walk in the Abingdon Theatre, The Hunt for Treasure will be a
truly unique experience the theatre goers will never have received from an off-Broadway
production.
